Call for proposals at SESAME’s MS Beamline

Call for proposals at SESAME’s MS Beamline

SESAME is issuing a call for proposals for powder diffraction measurements at its MS (Materials Science) ( beamline that may be implemented from (1 September 2021) to (31 December 2021); Due to the COVID-19 pandemic this call is limited to proposals that may be carried out by mail-in or remotely.

The MS beamline is SESAME’s newest beamline. It started hosting experiments last December, Scientists wishing to submit proposals are to be registered with the SESAME User Portal .

The deadline for receiving proposals is 15 June 2021 at 23:59 (Jordan time), Although many samples may travel with no problem, before submitting a proposal, interested scientists are strongly encouraged to contact the MS principal beamline scientist, Mahmoud Abdellatief (, to discuss the technical details of the planned measurements. The final decision on whether it would be feasible to carry out an experiment by mail-in or remotely will lie with the beamline scientist.

Interested scientists should also consult the SESAME User Policy, which governs access to the Laboratory’s facilities.

Before the scheduled beam time, the Principal Investigators of those applications that have been accepted will be notified by the SESAME Users' Office of the procedure to follow for the mailing of samples.

Without the dedicated support of SESAME’s beamline scientists no mail-in and remote access experiments would be possible. Scientists granted beam time using either of these procedures are therefore kindly requested to acknowledge as co-author in their publication(s) the beamline scientist having provided this support. A brief mention of this at the end of the publication (s) would not be sufficient.
